It will cost students more next year to live on campus at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

The NMU Board of Trustees has approved an increase in housing and dining rates for the upcoming academic year. The annual cost of a standard double-occupancy room and the “constant meal pass” option will be $8,742, an increase of $254.

Seven new degree programs also gained board approval.

Three new baccalaureate degrees are paralegal studies, neuroscience and information assurance/cyber defense.

Four are master’s level: higher education in student affairs, post-secondary biology education, clinical molecular genetics and applied behavior analysis.
