PHIL JACKSON has coached two of the best players in NBA history: MICHAEL JORDAN and KOBE BRYANT. But it's always been hard to get him to admit who he thinks is better. Until now.

Some excerpts from his new book "Eleven Rings" hit the web yesterday in which he compares Michael and Kobe and it sounds like he thinks Jordan was WAY better.

Here are some of his observations . . .


On offense, Phil says, quote, "Michael was more likely to break through his attackers with power and strength, while Kobe often tries to finesse his way through mass pileups.

"Michael was stronger, with bigger shoulders and a sturdier frame. He also had large hands that allowed him to control the ball better and make subtle fakes.

"Jordan was also more naturally inclined to let the game come to him and not overplay his hand, whereas Kobe tends to force the action, especially when the game isn't going his way.

"When his shot is off, Kobe will pound away relentlessly until his luck turns. Michael, on the other hand, would shift his attention to defense or passing or setting screens to help the team win the game."

As for defense, he says, quote, "No question, Michael was a tougher, more intimidating defender. He could break through virtually any screen and shut down almost any player with his intense, laser-focused style of defense.

"Kobe has learned a lot from studying Michael's tricks, and we often used him as our secret weapon on defense when we needed to turn the direction of a game.

"In general, Kobe tends to rely more heavily on his flexibility and craftiness, but he takes a lot of gambles on defense and sometimes pays the price."

Jackson also says Michael had "superior skills" as a leader . . . quote, "Though at times he could be hard on his teammates, Michael was masterful at controlling the emotional climate of the team with the power of his presence.

"Kobe had a long way to go before he could make that claim. He talked a good game, but he'd yet to experience the cold truth of leadership in his bones, as Michael had."

"Eleven Rings" comes out next week.

Former NASCAR Driver Dick Trickle Committed Suicide

The man with the greatest name in sports history is no longer with us. Former NASCAR driver DICK TRICKLE committed suicide yesterday. He was 71.

Trickle reportedly shot himself at Forest Lawn Cemetery in North Carolina shortly after noon yesterday.

Police say Trickle called the local dispatcher and said they'd find his body there.

Emergency vehicles were sent to the cemetery, where they found Trickle's body next to his truck. He left a suicide note, but the contents have yet to be revealed.

Trickle retired from racing in 2002.

VIDEO: "Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker" Arrested For Murder

Internet celebrity "Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker" has been arrested in the murder of a Clark, New Jersey man.

The suspect Caleb Lawrence McGillvary was captured by Philadelphia Police at the Greyhound Bus station in Philadelphia.

The 24-year-old Internet celebrity is well known on Facebook and YouTube as "Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker."

McGillvary gained fame online for his intervention in a Feb. 1 attack in Fresno, California. He was riding with a man who drove into a utility worker. The Fresno Bee reported that McGillvary pulled a hatchet from his backpack and struck the driver in the head after he confronted the Pacific Gas & Electric worker.

McGillvary is homeless but considers himself "homefree" and relies on the generosity of strangers for food, lodging and transportation.

He is also known as Kai Lawrence, Caleb Kai Lawrence and Kai Nicodemus.

The victim, Joseph Galfy, was found inside his home on Starlite Drive on Monday after officers received a call to check on his well-being.

An autopsy performed the following day determined that Galfy died as a result of "blunt force trauma", according to Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Investigators said Kai met the attorney near Times Square, and a surveillance camera captured images of them. The men later went back to the victim's house, officials said.

A post was made to his Facebook page on Tuesday in which Kai claims he was raped by the man.

Kai later reached out to some fans in South Jersey, who took him to a train station. He claimed to be headed to Philadelphia and then to Georgia.

Based on the investigation, authorities know that McGillvary has cut his hair in an attempt to alter his appearance.

Before his arrest, he had last seen at a light rail station in the Haddonfield, N.J. area, said Romankow.

The Union County Homicide Task Force is working with local, state, and Federal officials to locate McGillvary. He is charged with murder in Union County and bail has been set at $3 million by Superior Court Judge Stuart Peim.

"I am grateful for the overwhelming response and dedicated effort by the public and law enforcement that led to this arrest," said Romankow. "I believe that everyone is a little safer with this person off the streets."

The Legal Limit for Drunk Driving Could Go Down to .05%

Right now, the legal blood-alcohol limit in the U.S. is .08%. You might not know this, but we're one of the last countries left where the limit is that HIGH. In most countries, the legal limit is .05%.

It looks like there's a good chance we'll be dropping down to that level too. Yesterday morning, the National Transportation Safety Board announced a plan to get the legal limit lowered to .05%.

The rough rule-of-thumb for guessing whether you were at .08% was about one drink per hour. So .05% basically means you shouldn't drive if you've had ANYTHING to drink.

According to the NTSB, at .05%, you start having trouble with depth perception, and your risk of having an accident goes up by 39%. At .08%, your risk of an accident goes up more than 100%.

The NTSB thinks at least 1,000 lives would be saved every year by dropping the legal limit. But it would still be up to each individual state whether to drop their level from .08% to .05%.

A woman was arrested Saturday and charged with assault inflicting serious injury after beating another woman with a Bible, according to arrest warrants.

Evelyn Mills Moore, 57, of the 100 block of Saddlebrook Court in Kings Mountain, struck another woman "numerous times about her body with a closed fist and striking her with a Bible about her left arm," the warrant states.

The attack caused numerous abrasions on the other woman's head, face and arms, according to the court document.

Moore was charged with a second assault charge inflicting serious injury after striking a man with her fist causing numerous abrasions on his head, face and arms and a knot near his right eye, according to the warrant.

Moore was being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center with a $105,000 bond as of Monday morning.
