GRPD still searching for suspect

Three people were shot and one was critically wounded after an early Sunday morning shooting in the parking lot of a Grand Rapids bar.

Just after 1 a.m., police arrived at the parking lot outside the Tini Bikini Bar on South Division Avenue and found the three people. They were all rushed to Saint Mary's Hospital for treatment.

Authorities said one person was critically injured. The other two are expected to recover.

No one has been arrested.

Off-duty deputy, nurse hurt after helping out

One person is dead after a horrific accident where a car zipped through an accident scene early Sunday morning.

Around 3:16 a.m., a vehicle on the Business Loop 131 lost control during the turn and rolled over in the median. The rollover ejected at least one person, according to Kalamazoo Township Police. Four people were in the vehicle and at least three of them were hurt.

An off-duty Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputy, on her way to work, and a nurse, who had just finished her shift at Bronson Hospital, each appeared on the scene. They each helped the victims with their injuries.

A few minutes later, a second vehicle driving on the Business Loop, lost control at the same curve and drove through the first crash scene. The 2nd vehicle struck several people: two passengers from the first accident, the off-duty deputy and the nurse.

One of the passengers, a 23-year-old Richland man, was pronounced dead at the scene after the second crash occurred. However, authorities say it is not certain which injuries from which crash resulted in his death.

The other passenger, a 22-year old Kalamazoo woman, the nurse, a 53-year-old Kalamazoo woman and the off-duty deputy, a 46-year-old Kalamazoo woman, were all taken to the hospital. The other passenger and the nurse are listed in critical condition; the deputy is in stable condition.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 22-year old Kalamazoo woman, and another passenger in the first vehicle, a 24-year-old Kalamazoo man, were taken to the hospital and are recovering from their injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle is a 22-year-old Kalamazoo woman. She was not injured in the incident and police say she has not been taken into custody at this time.

Police have not released the names of the people involved as they continue to contact family members. A PRIDE Care employee tells 24 Hour News 8 that several of the people in the first vehicle were PRIDE Care employees.

Open Murder charge for killing mother of twins

A 29-year-old Ionia man has been charged with murdering a Pierson Township mother.

Montcalm County Sheriff's Department tells 24 Hour News 8 the man, whose name has not been released, knew the victim and has been in police custody since Saturday.

31-year-old Julie Lynn Danielson was found dead in the basement of a house on Whitefish Woods Dr early Saturday morning.

Detectives says they followed up on several leads this weekend and believe they have pieced together all the events that led to the murder.

The suspect will be arraigned on an Open Murder charge later this week.

Man falls approx. 20ft from ladder Dies

54-year-old Mattawan man was trimming branches

A Mattawan man is dead after falling at least 18 feet from a ladder Sunday.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department tells 24 Hour News 8 the 54-year-old man was at Wentzel's Greenhouse trimming branches Sunday afternoon.

Around 3:15 p.m., he was on a ladder and after cutting through a rather large branch, he lost his balance and fell.

The victim fell between 18-20 feet and fell onto a pile of cut wood. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released
